In the studio we’re all droooooling over these printed smocks by our Parisian print designer Marion Payen. They’re all hand stamped and one of a kind. (And still only $90!)
She’s been working away on some blow-your-mind Summer scarves that will debut in the next newsletter, so be sure to sign yourselves up!
And snatch up these limited edition smocks while they’re here!
Oh, Sunday…. What a day you were.
5 of us piled into a car, with D&D donut holes and carrot vegan cookies (it’s all about the balance), and headed North.
It was one stylish car: Titania Inglis, Study NY, Kordal Knitwear, Liz Spencer, and we met Ambika and Lauren Manoogian there.
We went to Rhinebeck, NY to tour a solar and wind powered (!!!) spinning mill working with farm raised wool and angora goats. It was baby season, so there were newborn lambs and goats galore. The goal was to connect New York designers with another sustainable local manufacturing option. Mission accomplished. And it felt like a mini designer vacation!

a series of sunnyday smock styles at STATE
a FRESH BATCH of new alllmmooost Spring pieces are up in the shop! these photos are everything to me right now. Isabelle Selby, man oh man…..

the pulley was the best business expense I’ve made in ages.
raising and lowering supplies to the loft is my new greatest thrill.

before our shoot on Sunday, our friend and photographer Isabelle took some photos of the new STATE studio. we’ll have you for tea soon, but for now here’s a virtual tour!
If you haven’t noticed already, there’s quite a little army growing at STATE. There a few new hands working on some awesome projects, acting as STATE apprentices. Like Marion, who travelled all the way from Lille, France to hang out at STATE Capitol and bring her beautiful, quirky designs to a new line of smocks and tanks…
Q: What let you to joining the STATE team?
A: I was looking to work with other designers and was interested in doing textile designs, and one day I found STATE online.
Q: How have you mixed your design aesthetic with STATE?
A: I really loved the smocks first, and I love repetition. A lot of my work is like geometric patterns, only I had only ever created it on computers. STATE let me move my stuff from computers to real fabric.
Q: What would you fill the pockets of smock with?
A: I guess my phone, my keys, a drawing pad, I always have pens on me – very functional things. Oh, and lipstick. I always have lipstick.
Q: What makes you a STATE girl?
A: I love polka dots. I almost always have some sort of polka dots pattern on me at all times!
Check out Marion’s other work and look for her hand-printed items in the shop soon
